Being able to pass and being able to be cleared are two conditions
A shot-blaster opening that accepts the workpiece does not mean every surface will meet the agreed cleaning quality. Coverage of the inner flange faces, both web faces and connection roots on an H-beam depends on orientation, section proportions, blast angle and loading. Check the pass envelope and effective cleaning coverage together.
Welded members with end plates, connecting plates or other attachments also need to be evaluated for shading, shot accumulation and shot discharge. If the structure blocks certain locations, the same cleaning effect cannot be guaranteed by simply increasing the passage time. It is necessary to check the placement, blast wheel layout and whether to arrange supplementary treatment.
Opening dimensions derived from workpiece drawings
TITANWELD commonly used models are 1220, 1225, and 2050, and the opening can be customized according to the workpiece. These numbers are used for model identification and cannot be disassembled into fixed width and height by themselves. The plan should specify the width, height, length, weight, placement direction and required margin.
| Information | Specific content | for checking |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum outline | Main section, end plates, stiffening plates and protruding parts | Entrance and cleaning room passage space |
| Running status | Direction, possible deflection, positioning method | Dynamic envelope and guidance |
| Beam length weight | Shortest and longest piece, single piece and unit length weight | roller conveyor spacing, load-bearing and support |
| Bulk loading | Single or side by side, spacing and cross-section differences | Mutual occlusion and projectile coverage |
| Subsequent uses | Coating systems, cleanliness and roughness requirements | Process and inspection conditions |
How to choose between 8, 10, and 12 blast wheels
The number of blast wheels is optionally 8, 10 or 12, and is determined together with the cleaning chamber geometry, projectile position angle, individual blast wheel configuration, abrasive flow rate, conveying speed and loading method. More quantity does not automatically equal higher cleaning quality, nor does it translate into a fixed increase in capacity.
| Dimensions | Technical Description | Misjudgment to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| override | represents cross-section coverage and easy-to-occlude locations | Only look at the total number, do not check the inner side and root |
| Cleanup time | Conditions for passing under agreed superficial requirements | Treat the fastest conveying speed as the qualified speed |
| Abrasive system | Circulation, separation and feed matching | Add blast wheel but ignore supporting capabilities |
| Use and maintain | Power, wear parts and service locations | Compare main-machine prices only |
Determine the acceptance surface first, and then determine the operating parameters
Cleanliness is determined by product and coating requirements. For example, when a project adopts a certain level of ISO 8501-1, it should be clearly stated in the technical document, and a common level cannot be regarded as the default requirement for all orders. The roughness needs to match the subsequent coating system, and the cleanliness and roughness should be checked separately.
Incoming oxide scale, rust, oil stains or original coating affect the treatment plan. Contamination such as oil that is not suitable for entering the abrasive cycle should be pretreated according to the process. Abrasive type, particle size and mixing state, coverage and conveying speed should be verified by representative workpieces.
Abrasive circulation, dust removal and maintenance are included in the scope
The quotation should state the configuration boundaries for blast wheels, wear parts, conveying, abrasive recovery and separation, dust collection and controls. Abrasive circulation supplies and separates media; dust collection handles process dust. Both must match the actual workpiece and load, and emissions, noise and dust-handling requirements must be reviewed for the installation site.
Maintenance includes blades and other wear parts, seals and wear-resistant liners, separation and dust removal components. The frequency of inspections is arranged according to the manual and actual use. The layout should preserve the access for cleaning parts, and the front and rear roller conveyors or adjacent machines should not block the access door.
The splits of 75–80 m and the integrated machine of about 25 m in the preliminary layout of the entire line are reference layout lengths and do not automatically define the shot blasting area or the entire plant area. Whether shot blasting, dust removal, incoming and outgoing materials and finished product buffering are included in the same straight line must be clarified in the scope of supply and general layout.
Complete acceptance with real load
- Select the workpiece with the largest representative cross-section and risk of occlusion, and maintain the agreed loading direction.
- Record opening, blast wheel, abrasive, speed and number of passes.
- Check both sides of the web, the inside and outside of the flange and the root, not only showing the easy-to-clean locations.
- Check the cleanliness, roughness and necessary residual pollution indicators respectively according to the agreed method.
- Check shot discharge, circulation, dust collection and maintenance conditions, and file working conditions and results together.
