First divide the task by material and part shape

Flame cutting cuts suitable carbon steel and low alloy steel plates through preheating and oxidation reaction; ordinary oxygen gas technology cannot be directly applied to stainless steel, aluminum and other materials. Plasma uses an electric arc to melt conductive metal and discharge the molten material. The range of materials that can be used depends on the power source, torch and gas combination. After the material is determined, compare the plate thickness, hole and groove ratio and target trimming edge.

The web and flange plate of welding H-beam are often long strips with repeated widths, and multiple linear flame cutting torches can organize the strips in the same longitudinal travel. Tapered-section webs and profiled panels require CNC paths. Multi-torch slitting and CNC contour processing solve different tasks, and production capabilities cannot be compared only by "how many cutting torches".

Convert reference configuration into actual workpiece coverage table

Existing documentation for the TW-PQC4000 includes flame and plasma combination configurations. The thickness in the quotation table is used for preliminary equipment discussion; whether it can be perforated from the inside of the plate, what cutting method is used, and what kind of trimming can be achieved should be confirmed based on the material and selected process.

The deformation of the long board will pass the cost to the assembly station

After stripping, not only the width of the panel must be measured, but also the side bends, local gaps and trimming conditions of the entire length must be checked. The initial residual stress in the sheet, the heating distribution and the cutting sequence all affect the strip deformation. Adding a cutting torch does not automatically ensure that the strips are straighter. The strip cutting sequence should be verified based on the plate width, strip width and material status, and then retest according to the agreed method after cooling.

The support and lifting of narrow and long bars are equally important. Insufficient support during cutting may cause sagging, and unreasonable lifting points during unloading may cause deformation. If the subsequent assembly requirements are strict, post-cutting, necessary alignment, and material support should be included in the workshop tasks instead of leaving all deviations to the assembly clamping mechanism.

Find the inspection direction from cut-edge symptoms

Abnormal cut edges often result from several factors. Use the table to narrow troubleshooting, then verify adjustments with a test piece of the same material and thickness. Appearance alone is not a sufficient fault conclusion.

Comparing costs using complete cycles of good parts

For long-strip tasks, record whole-plate loading and alignment, torch spacing adjustment, preheating or piercing, effective cutting, pauses, unloading, slag removal and inspection time. For profiles with multiple holes, specifically record the number and duration of piercings. A faster individual cut may not reduce the whole-batch cost if changeovers, consumable replacement or rework take longer.

The operational comparison should list the consumption of oxygen and gas, plasma electricity and gas, cutting tip electrode, slag cleaning labor and auxiliary smoke exhaust. Use the same set of drawings, the same material and the same quality conditions for trial cutting, and then calculate the cost of each batch of qualified parts; do not combine the maximum thickness, fastest speed and optimal cutting edge values into one commitment.

Write the cutting results into the technical agreement

  • Provide commonly used steel types, thickness distribution, plate width and strip width and length to be cut.
  • Describes which tasks require simultaneous strip cutting by multiple torches and which require CNC contouring.
  • Distinguish between edge cuts and in-board perforations, and list critical hole slots and minimum features.
  • Agree on strip width, straightness, trimming and pre-welding cleaning requirements.
  • Check air source, power supply, track foundation, hoist coverage and waste removal conditions.
  • Use representative panels to record the complete cycle time, consumable condition and first-article acceptance result.

The acceptance piece should include the actual long straight bar, a representative contour and critical thickness. Agree the cooling state, measurement datum, sample count and inspection records. Cutting tables, fume extraction, gas lines and slag-removal facilities also need clear supply responsibilities.
