First create a traceable parts list

Support plates, stiffening plates, end plates and connecting plates have similar shapes, but may have different thicknesses, hole locations and numbers. The component number, part number, drawing version, steel type, thickness, required quantity and delivery batch should be sorted out before programming. Quantities must be derived from the current approved parts list and cannot be inferred from scattered drawing file names alone.

The same nesting task is first grouped according to material grade and thickness, and then the source, surface condition and directional requirements of the plates are checked. Without the permission of the drawing or process, parts should not be rotated or mirrored in order to arrange them more tightly; the direction of the oblong hole, the bending direction and the assembly datum should be retained in the data.

Material utilization rate and complete set delivery rate should be looked at at the same time

The area utilization rate can be expressed by dividing the net area of qualified parts by the area of the input plates. For example, if a batch of 100 m² plates is invested and 72 m² of qualified parts are finally formed, the corresponding caliber is 72%. This is a calculation example and does not represent the actual measured indicators of the equipment. How borders, kerfs, remnants and scrap are accounted for must be consistent between plans.

In order to improve the utilization rate of single boards, a large number of parts with different delivery dates are mixed, which may cause waiting, searching for parts or repeated transportation. It is recommended that under the condition of the same material and thickness, the number of sets of components to be assembled should be met first, and then mixed arrangement across orders should be considered. The remaining materials that can be reused should be recorded in size, material and location. They cannot be treated as finished products in this utilization rate and as free raw materials in the next batch.

Indicators that should be recorded simultaneously in the nesting plan
IndicatorSuggested recording methodProblem solved
Material utilizationThe net area, input area, and remaining material area of qualified parts are recorded separately.Avoid false highs caused by different statistical calibers
Complete sets of componentsWhether the required parts for each component are completeAvoid high utilization but the assembly is still missing a board
Cutting workloadProfile length, number of piercings, estimated program time and actual timeDistinguish between close-packed benefits and complex path costs
Discharge costSorting, cleaning, labeling and re-inspection timeIncorporate subsequent manual work into plan comparison

In order to be able to line up, we must also cut steadily and achieve results.

The part spacing, margins and introduction position should be set according to the nozzle and process requirements. Usually, the internal holes and grooves are processed first, and then the outer contour is completed to prevent the parts from losing their stable positioning after first detaching from the motherboard. Small parts may lift up or fall into the support gap after cutting. The cutting sequence and removal method should be selected based on the workbench support, part size and process.

Continuous dense cuts in adjacent areas can easily cause local heat concentration, and zoning and interspersed processing should be evaluated. Common-edge cutting can reduce some repetitive paths, but involves size compensation, thermal effects and single-edge cutting direction; micro-joining facilitates the retention of small parts, but will bring traces of subsequent removal. Both should be used after the drawing requirements permit and the test cutting results are qualified, and cannot be used as the default setting for all parts.

Let the number follow from the program to the assembly rack

It is recommended to adopt the continuous correspondence relationship of "nesting drawing-cutting batch-part label-component rack". Parts that are allowed to be marked can be marked according to the process; surfaces that are not suitable for direct marking can use labels or grids. Parts with left and right parts, similar hole spacing or different thicknesses should be separated during unloading to avoid searching based on appearance after entering the general pile.

The production capacity of the plate laser machine should be arranged together with the main beam line

The TW-LPC series can be used for batch processing of supporting panels for steel structures, but its tasks are usually parallel to the main beam welding line. If the main beam has been completed but the end plates have not yet been assembled, the assembly station will still wait. When scheduling production, the delivery time of panels required for each batch of main beam assembly should be calculated backwards, and actual time should be reserved for first-article inspection, repair cutting and slag cleaning.

When selecting, hand over the commonly used plate width, steel type thickness combinations and typical nesting drawings to the supplier, and then discuss the workbench, laser power and loading and unloading organization. The large format can accommodate more parts, but it does not mean that sorting and lifting can be completed simultaneously; gas, exhaust, residual material areas and material racks should also appear in the layout.

First use a batch of real orders to verify the nesting rules

  • Lock drawing versions, part quantities, and delivery assembly batches.
  • Group according to steel type, thickness and directionality requirements, and register the remaining materials.
  • Review slots, lead-ins, spacing, common edges, and microconnections for suitability.
  • Confirm that small parts will not affect subsequent cutting due to blanking or warping.
  • First article inspection covers the shape, hole spacing and trimming of contact assembly surfaces.
  • At the same time, the qualified utilization rate, complete set rate and sorting and re-cutting workload are calculated.

Select a batch of orders containing duplicate panels, similar parts, and small hole parts, and record the entire process from programming to delivery in sets. Verify the re-curing material grouping, spacing, introduction, cutting sequence and marking rules to avoid each operator using one set of habits.
