First distinguish which deformation needs to be corrected.
H-beam Longitudinal weld shrinkage can cause flange angle deformation. Flange straightening produces controlled deformation through support and compression to restore the flange to the agreed geometric requirements. The bending, torsion, local waves or assembly misalignment of the entire beam are different problems. The causes should be determined separately and cannot all be lumped into one maximum straightening thickness.
Provide the deformation measurement location, reference surface and typical photos, and indicate the steel type, flange width and thickness, web height and thickness, beam length and weight. High-strength steel, boundary sections or incoming materials with obvious abnormalities should be reviewed separately, and if necessary, representative workpiece tests should be used to determine the feasible process.
Web welding thickness and flange straightening thickness describe different conditions. Gantry single-wire 16 mm and twin-wire 1250AC + 1600DC 24 mm refer to full penetration without beveling. Beveled, multi-layer, multi-pass welding is not capped by these two values; check it against the equipment and WPS. The specified integrated-machine configuration has a 14 mm full-penetration limit for the web. The 60A, 60B and 80B values below are flange-straightening parameters and cannot be substituted for one another.
What areas do each of the three models cover?
The following table retains the size parameters of each model and does not mix the maximum values of the models. The range is used for preliminary screening. The extreme values of width and thickness do not mean that all combinations are true at the same time. They still need to be confirmed by combining the material and detailed capability tables.

| Flange thickness | 8–60 mm | 8–60 mm | 8–80 mm |
| 웨브 높이 | 200–1800 mm | ≥350 mm | 350–1500 mm |

Why can’t thickness be separated from width and material?
For the same flange thickness, the required straightening conditions are also different when the width, stress position, material yield strength and initial deformation are different. Cross-sectional geometry affects roller contact and avoidance. The complete section must be inspected and suitability cannot be confirmed just because the nominal thickness falls within the interval.
For asymmetric beams, the web offset, upper and lower flange differences, and support datums must be checked; for tapered-section beams, the full-length height change and guidance must be checked. For orders outside the conventional material range, material properties should be provided and the judgment of Q235 or Q355 should not be directly followed.
Measurement results need to have a common benchmark
| record item | When incoming materials | after straightening |
|---|---|---|
| Identity and Direction | Drawing number, steel grade, size, batch and direction | Keep the same identification and measurement direction |
| Flange angle deformation | Agree on the numerical values of the datum and position | Whether retesting with the same method meets the requirements |
| Other geometric problems | Bending, torsion, local defects and weld conditions | Confirm the processing scope to avoid being mistakenly classified as a flange task |
| Support and status | Support position, temperature and measurement conditions | Maintain comparable conditions and record changes |
| Operation process | Initial setup and planning handling | Actual number of passes, adjustments and exceptions |
roller conveyor, guide and setting determine on-site coordination
Long beams should be properly supported and guided when loading and unloading materials. The elevation, centerline, load-bearing capacity and overhang of the roller conveyor affect the operational stability and the repeatability of the measurement. The layout needs to leave space for entrance processing, exit inspection and temporary storage of abnormal parts to avoid new geometric problems caused by handling.
Pressure and guidance shall be adjusted by trained personnel in accordance with operating documents. When approaching the capacity boundary, you cannot blindly increase the reduction amount repeatedly. You should check the material, incoming materials and upstream welding conditions. The 6 m/min in the quotation belongs to 60B and 80B and cannot be automatically applied to 60A which does not have this speed record.
Three steps to determine the model
- Size screening: Use representative workpieces to check the flange width, web height and necessary thickness range.
- Capability verification: Simultaneously review materials, width and thickness combinations, incoming material deformations and target geometry.
- On-site verification: Confirm roller conveyor, guide, measurement and handling, and perform agreed tests on boundary workpieces.
