Define the weld first, rather than selecting the current first
The H-beam main welding station completes the longitudinal weld along the connection position between the web and the flange plate. Selection information includes joint diagrams, two types of plate thickness, steel type, weld leg or effective weld size, penetration requirements and inspection standards. Fillet weld size and full penetration requirements are not the same index, and you cannot only give the plate thickness and omit the joint form.
It is also necessary to confirm the welding posture, weld accessibility and assembly quality. Assembly tack welding is used to maintain shape and gaps and is not equivalent to completing the main weld. The size, position and connection between tack welding and main welding should be included in the process documents to avoid repeated adjustments due to wrong edges, gaps or unstable positioning.
Split gantry welding places the workpiece into a flat-position fillet welding position that is conducive to supporting the molten pool. Thick webs can use beveling, multi-layer, multi-pass welding; this type of process does not use the bevel-free values of 16 mm for single wire and 24 mm for double wire as the upper limit of thickness. The light steel integrated machine adopts 45° fillet welding, and the maximum web full penetration is 14 mm, and this configuration does not support the use of bevels to break through the upper limit.
Confirmation content of monofilament and double filament solutions
TITANWELD submerged-arc welding adopts Zhenzhong power supply, and single or double wire configuration can be selected according to the project. The double wire solution uses a combination of 1250AC + 1600DC. The power supply, wire feeding, welding gun, welding flux processing, tracking and control should be checked as a complete set. The rated current alone cannot prove that a certain type of joint meets the acceptance requirements.
| 項目 | Monofilament solution | Double wire solution |
|---|---|---|
| 電源 | Zhenzhong thyristor submerged-arc welding power supply | 1250AC+1600DC double wire configuration |
| full penetration without beveling reference | Maximum 16 mm under applicable process conditions | 1250AC+1600DC configuration, maximum 24 mm under applicable process conditions |
| Key points to check | Joints, consumables, process windows, passes and welding locations | Double wire arrangement, AC/DC parameter coordination, wire feeding and molten pool stability |
| Cycle-time basis | Complete a complete cycle of specified welds | Complete cycle under same joint and acceptance conditions |
| Basis for acceptance | Trial welding, approved process and agreed inspection results | Trial welding, approved process and agreed inspection results |
Process documentation should link key variables together
The welding process should clearly define the welding wire diameter and welding flux combination, current voltage, welding speed, current form, welding wire extension length and welding gun position; for double wires, each wire parameter, spacing and arrangement must also be clearly defined. Preheat, interpass temperature, or post-weld treatment requirements should be determined based on the material and applicable project specifications.
WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) stipulates production conditions; when qualification is required, PQR (Welding Procedure Qualification Record) records test conditions and results. Which standard to use, who prepares the test pieces, and who performs which inspections should be agreed at the procurement stage. Machine parameter tables cannot replace process documents.
Groove, multi-layer, multi-pass welding should specify bevel angle, root face, root gap, back-gouging or backside treatment, each layer and pass, and welding sequence. Verify that the welding head can reach every pass and that heat input and interpass conditions are suitable, supported by the relevant procedure qualification and inspection. It is not capped by the no-bevel thickness figures, but actual equipment and material process boundaries still apply.
Welding flux and tracking systems affect continuous operations
Welding flux coverage and recovery need to match the workpiece posture, welding gun movement and turning. The storage, drying or heat preservation conditions of welding flux shall be carried out according to the welding material supplier and the approved process; screening, foreign matter control and new welding flux replenishment after recycling shall also form daily operation requirements.
Seam tracking helps maintain the relative position of the welding gun to the joint, and its adjustment range and allowable geometric changes still need to be suitable for the workpiece. The track and support of tapered-section or asymmetric beams should be checked according to the actual drawings, and constant-section demonstrations cannot be used instead of verification.
What records should be formed for test welding of representative joints?
| stage | Record content | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Before welding | Material thickness, joint tack welding, welding material batch, equipment configuration | Ensure that the test piece represents the real order |
| Welding | Each channel parameter, speed, position, necessary temperature and abnormality | Ability to reproduce processes and explain problems |
| After welding | Appearance dimensions, specified inspection and deformation | Determine according to agreed standards, not just looking at photos of welds |
| beat | Position turning, welding flux processing, welding, inspection and unloading | Compare the complete cycle of qualified finished products |
Make the welding configuration consistent with the entire line
The welding travel speed in the quotation information of TW-GWM5000 is 300–600 mm/min, and the idling speed is 3000 mm/min. The two uses are different. The actual process speed is determined by the joint and quality requirements. The maximum value in the table cannot be directly used as the production speed of all orders.
The layout should include support, turning, welding material supplement, track and maintenance range. The welding sequence and heat input also affect subsequent flange deformation, and the incoming material requirements of the straightening station should be included in the test. Assembly accuracy, weld quality, deformation and complete cycle are jointly established to complete the welding selection.
