The function of the hole determines what processing technology is used
Holes on the H-beam may be used for bolting, piping, installation positioning, or process avoidance; end cutouts may also serve splicing and assembly. Different uses determine size, location, hole wall and edge requirements. The acceptance conditions should be determined first based on the drawings and project specifications, and then whether the laser process is suitable.
The laser hole is formed by thermal cutting along the contour, and there may be differences in the upper and lower holes and thermal effects. It is not an automatic replacement for mechanical drilling, reaming or tapping. If the connection design limits the hole forming method, or requires precision fit and threading, subsequent machining and allowances should be made clear, and "cutable holes" should not be written as "all connection holes completed at one time."
Filter models by section, length and actual shape
One of the key differences between TW-LHC15030 and TW-LHC25030 is the length range. Selection also requires review of beam weight, straightness, supports, welds and welded attachments. The maximum height, flange width and length in the table cannot be arbitrarily combined into a processing guarantee.
| project | TW-LHC15030 | TW-LHC25030 |
|---|---|---|
| Allowed profile length | ≤15000 mm | ≤25000 mm |
| X-axis effective processing stroke | 15050 mm | 25050 mm |
| Profile height range | 250–1000 mm | 250–1000 mm |
| Profile width range | 100–500 mm | 100–500 mm |
| Y / Z axis effective processing stroke | 3050 / 950 mm | 3050 / 950 mm |
| A / B axis angle | are both ±90° | are both ±90° |
Unify the datum of the beam to prevent cumulative deviation of long-distance hole positions
Drawings should indicate from which end face the length datum comes, whether the transverse datum comes from the web or the flange, and how hole groups are positioned relative to each other. When importing the program, check the coordinate direction, unit, left and right parts, and mirror image relationship; the symmetrical shape does not mean that the left and right hole groups can be interchanged. If upstream cutting or welding has changed the datum end surface, the final effective datum needs to be determined first.
Actual steel sections may exhibit bending, torsion, welding shrinkage, or section deviations. The clamping and supporting plan should describe how these deviations are checked and dealt with. The positioning accuracy of the machine tool axis cannot be directly used as the finished product tolerance for all hole spacings on the long beam; the workpiece condition, datum establishment and cutting process will all affect the results.
The multi-axis function must be implemented to ensure that the tool head can reach
The device has H-beam process database, three-in-one cutting and RTCP functions. RTCP is used to coordinate the tool tip position when the tool head attitude changes; it cannot eliminate the actual collision between the workpiece, fixture and cutting head, nor can it replace drawing review and first article confirmation.
web The hole near the flange root, the inner end profile, and the cutout near the existing stiffening plate should focus on checking the laser beam path, the nozzle approach distance, and the direction of the scrap shedding. Tapered-section, asymmetric or beams with attachments need to be reviewed drawing by drawing; features that cannot be reliably processed should adjust the process sequence or be transferred to appropriate equipment.
| Features | Drawing information that needs to be given | Verification key points |
|---|---|---|
| Bolt hole group | Hole diameter, hole pitch, end distance, datum and hole wall requirements | Size, taper, location and applicable hole forming method |
| web opening | Profile, corner, distance from flange root | Tool head accessibility, scrap discharge and edge quality |
| Beam end profile or chamfer | End datum, angle, splicing clearance requirements | Clamping support, cutting attitude and actual assembly |
| With attachments or special sections | Welds, stiffened plates, section changes and web offsets | Anti-collision space and processing sequence |
Arrange the location and rhythm according to the cycle of the complete beam
Long beam loading, positioning, inspection, and unloading can take up significant time. The factory layout should draw the entry and exit path of the longest beam, the support position, the spreader operating area and the finished product buffer area, and check the lifting capacity. Only leaving the position according to the length of the main machine may prevent the raw materials from being hoisted in, the finished products from being rotated, or the adjacent welding station may be blocked.
Plan comparison should use the same set of beam diagrams to record the complete cycle of loading positioning, program preparation, punching and cutting, necessary transposition, and unloading inspection. After the hole slot is completed, it is transferred in the order of assembly or surface treatment to avoid the clean surface after shot blasting from being processed again due to back-cutting and re-welding.
Allow trial-cut beams to cover the most difficult connection features
- Provides complete section, beam length, weight, and weld attachment status.
- Indicate the purpose of the hole slot, dimensional tolerances and clearly required hole forming method.
- gives the positioning datum related to the beam end, web and flange.
- Focus on marking the root hole, medial contour, tapered-section and asymmetric locations.
- Check the loading support, lifting cover, cutting waste and unloading path.
- Verify slots, ends, and actual assembly results using representative beams and keep records.
Don’t just pick the big hole in the open position for your first piece. Common hole groups, features near flanges, end profiles, and representative longest or deformable workpieces should be covered. During measurement, record the datum, the support status of the beam and the instrument method to facilitate the differentiation of workpiece deformation and processing errors.
