Reverse the blast wheel arrangement from the surface to be cleaned
H-beam is not a flat plate, and the spatial relationships between the outer and inner sides of the flange, the two sides of the web and the connecting root are different. The direction, angle, and workpiece path of the projectile should be such that the target surface gets enough action, rather than just seeing a uniform appearance at the entrance and exit. Components with end plates or stiffening plates must also be inspected separately for shading.
This project shot blasting machine is available with 8, 10 or 12 blast wheels. Increased quantity may provide more placement options for the configuration, but the effect depends on the individual blast wheel configuration, location, and coverage fit, and efficiency cannot be directly extrapolated from quantity proportions.
Plan comparison should at least include coverage and loading instructions.
requires the supplier to describe the relative position of the blast wheel, the orientation of the workpiece and the key coverage area in conjunction with a representative cross-section. The diagram is for understanding the plan; formal acceptance still requires inspection of the actual surface under the agreed working conditions, and it cannot be judged that there are no dead ends by just relying on the schematic arrows.
| project | Information needed | Points of comparison |
|---|---|---|
| target workpiece | Sections, attachments and longest and heaviest items | Whether each scheme faces the same type of workpieces |
| Overlay arrangement | blast wheel position, direction and target surface | Is there any treatment plan for the inside of the flange, the root and the blocked area? |
| Loading method | Single or side by side, direction and spacing | Whether mutual occlusion is caused by different loads |
| Action time | Conveying conditions and allowed number of passes | Can the same surface acceptance requirements be met? |
| System supporting | Abrasive supply circulation, dust removal and maintenance | Whether the supporting capabilities and maintenance match after adding blast wheel |
Side-by-side loading cannot only depend on whether the opening can be lowered
Although two beams can pass side by side, their sides may still block each other. Mixing different cross-sections will also change the effective coverage and removal of abrasives. Therefore, the production plan should clearly specify the allowed placement, minimum workpiece support and loading distance, and the specific values are determined by configuration and testing.
Reducing the conveyor speed increases the action time but does not eliminate surfaces that are blocked by entities. When encountering a shadow area, you should first check the workpiece orientation, attachment, loading and ejection direction, and then determine whether the layout needs to be adjusted or supplementary processing is needed. You cannot just ask for slower passage.
Establishing coverage verification by location check
| area | Common concerns | Recording method |
|---|---|---|
| Flange outer surface | Full-length cleaning uniformity and edges | Record according to agreed positions such as head, middle, tail, etc. |
| Inboard of flange | Occlusion of webs and attachments | Mark the inner inspection position and retain the corresponding results |
| web both sides | Orientation differences and insufficient local coverage | Check both sides separately, do not replace one side with the other |
| Weld root and connection area | Geometric shadows, weld slag or spatter residues | Distinguish between coverage problems and incomplete preprocessing |
| End plates and attachments | Back, angles and pills | Clarify the normal cleanup scope and supplementary processing responsibilities |
Coverage changes require simultaneous inspection of wear and operating status
When local results deteriorate on a machine that has been accepted, the blast wheel wear parts, feed, abrasive status, conveying and loading should be checked for changes. Replacement and adjustment of blades, directional components or related structures must be performed in accordance with the manufacturer's documentation without observing or approaching the ejection components during operation.
Keep access doors, lifting and component removal spaces accessible. After maintenance, re-inspect representative parts, record part replacements, setting changes and surface results, and establish a baseline that can explain the changes, rather than just recording how many parts have been replaced.
Acceptance records should link quantities to results
- Indicate the number of blast wheels selected and the actual matching, and do not use the total number to replace the layout information.
- Fixed representation of workpiece, incoming material status, loading and abrasive conditions.
- Record the number of passes, conveyance and necessary blast wheel operating status.
- Check cleanliness, roughness and other specified items at the agreed location.
- Clarify the responsibilities for shielding, repair and supplementary processing, and retain the acceptance conditions for future review.
